Gwent Accelerates Toward a Greener Future with New Gul-e On-Street EV Home Charging Trial.
Residents across Gwent are taking part in a new trial aimed at making electric vehicle (EV) charging at home safer and more accessible. As part of the initiative, two new Gul-e cross-pavement charging units have been installed in the region.
Developed by ODS in partnership with Oxford City Council’s Highways team, the Gul-e cross-pavement system addresses a key barrier for many EV drivers: how to charge at home when a driveway isn’t available. The discreet, pavement-integrated gully lets residents run a charging cable from their home to their car without posing a trip hazard or relying exclusively on public charging stations.
Gwent joins a growing number of communities taking bold steps toward sustainable transport, offering practical solutions that support local climate goals and improve access to EV technology.
Gary Kinzett, Business Development Lead at ODS, added: “We’re delighted to see Gwent trial the Gul-e solution. Making home charging easier for those without driveways is essential to accelerating EV adoption. With support from local authorities and residents, we’re creating real, long-term impact on the journey to a cleaner, greener transport network.”
The rollout of this trial in Gwent builds on the success of previous Gul-e deployments around the UK. Local residents participating in the trial will enjoy a more convenient EV lifestyle, while contributing to regional efforts to reduce emissions and promote sustainable living.
